By Metro From The Airport

Like most European capitals, Lisbon has a metro line that links directly the airport to the main areas of the city. It's the red line. From there you can connect with any of the other three lines and reach your destination without worry. The average time of a trip from the airport to Chiado (the heart of Lisbon) is around 50 minutes.

One of the biggest advantages of the subway for those who are arriving in Lisbon for the first time is that it is practically impossible to get lost there.

Aerobus From The Airport

For those who go to the most central districts of the city, such as Cais do Sodré, or Marquês de Pombal, a good option is the Aerobus. It is a bus that circulates only on the airport to centre route (and vice versa), with two lines available, depending on your destination. The intervals vary between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on the line. The Aerobus is a great option if your lodging is near one of the bus stops. Also, as it makes few stops in the way, it's a relatively quick trip. Taxi From The Airport

From Lisbon airport to downtown you will pay a cheap cab ride, especially by European standards. For example, from the airport to the region of Avenida da Liberdade, the cost is usually below 20 euros.

Just out of the building you will find the queue for the taxi stand. Taxis are black with a green roof or cream in colour. Police officers are vigilant to ensure that no irregular car picks up are done. All taxi trips must be charged by meter only, by law. Keep a look at them, though.

Cost: Between 15 and 25 euros, depending on the destination and traffic.
