In this area, you will find a delightful mix of modern stores of the most well-known chains (from Zara and Zara Home to H&M and Benetton) and truly century-old traditional shops, from bespoke glove shop Luvaria Ulisses to old bookstores like Bertrand. One of the most important commercial centres in this area is the "Armazens do Chiado". The centre remains open from 10am to 11pm.

This delicious shop sells products of Portuguese creation or manufacture, most of them in vintage style and with the designs of their original packaging. As soon as you enter the store you can breathe the care that is behind the selection of all the products. A store, almost a museum, that you can not miss. It will be difficult for you to leave without some souvenir of A Vida Portuguesa.

This store specialized in the manufacture of gloves has been open since 1925. A true jewel of the Lisbon trade that keeps its decoration intact from the day it opened its doors. Gloves in all sizes and materials for the most elegant hands.

This bookshop is believed to be the oldest in Lisbon. Founded by the Frenchman Pedro Faure 1732 at Rua Direita do Loreto, it was moved to its current location some years later. It is currently a chain with stores throughout Portugal, still unbeated by Amazon or other online book retailers.

Storytailors is the vert successful project of designers Luis Sánchez and João Branco. Each collection revolves around a story creating romantic and very dreamlike environments. Visiting this store can be quite an experience.

The Café A Brasileira is a café in Rua Garrett, near the Baixa-Chiado metro stop.
